Mural Wall at 1078
1078 Gallery invites proposals from members for our new Mural Wall.

Submission deadline for first mural cycle: 
Monday June 22, 2020 at 4pm​

Details:
  • The Mural Wall is the wall on the W. 17th Street side of our building at 1710 Park Ave.
  • Dimensions are 29ft 6in wide x 10ft high.
  • Projects will be selected by the gallery's Exhibitions Committee. 
  • Murals will be displayed for three months, with a one week install period. 
  • Materials for the mural are supplied by artist. To assist in defraying materials costs, 1078 will request donations for each mural on our website/social media and inside the gallery, and the artist is encouraged to include a Venmo handle on the mural itself, so that individuals may donate that way also. Artists should consider materials costs in planning their submission design, and are encouraged to explore using salvaged/donated materials. 1078 can supply ladders, drop cloths and random paint and brushes. We commit to making sure that every selected mural project is able to be produced, regardless of the financial means of the artist. 
  • Artist must re-paint wall at end of three months (paint provided by 1078).
  • Artist may initiate membership (starting at $25) after acceptance of their mural proposal. 
  • Artist may offer prints or other mural-related merchandise for sale at the gallery or online, with proceeds split 70/30 between the artist/1078.
  • Artists will sign a contract confirming all the above prior to initiating their mural.

Proposals must include:
  • A sketch of your proposed mural in .JPG format, max file size 1024k
  • A brief statement describing your mural idea
  • 6 images of past projects/artwork  in .JPG format, max file size 1024k each​
