Caroline’s Qs+As (Ed happy to be a lap but not an answerer)
Where do you feel silence?
Sitting alone in quiet room when I take my hearing aids out. Utter peace!
Where do you wish you could be other than here?
In a Land Rover with very few others riding across the Serengeti.
What’s something that would make your  life better?
Opera’s returning to NYC and to San Francisco.

Brooklyn, just for a week or so.
What’s something that would make your life better?
The end of 45 and the GOP.
A favored quotation?
"Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”—John Lewis

Where do you feel silence?
The south side of my chicken coup.
A promise kept?
To love regardless.
What is the color you forgot?
Chartreuse? Chartruth? Charforgot....
A promise broken?
To draw everyday…not broken often but has been broken.
What’s stopping you?
My heart.
A favored quotation?
“The beauty one can find in art is one of the pitifully few real and lasting products of human endeavor”—J. Paul Getty
What’s the strangest thing?
My brain, I have been told this many times, starting to believe it....
Where do you wish you could be other than here?
Trinidad, CA, almost always. Maybe I need to go there.
How well do you trust your intuition?
I don’t know, but I usually do and have the scars to prove it!
What’s something that would make your life better?
Stronger hands.
Forward or back?
Down, down deep, dark, cold, and honest. I enjoy holes.
What happened ten years ago?
I fell madly in love (still am).
What have you learned the hard way?
I am physically on the decline, cartwheels are more like high heels.
What is nearby?
The answer.
Why don’t you want to go to that place?
My kids don’t travel that well.
What is next?
Something unexpected and life changing, I feel it—at least I felt it yesterday.
Why can’t you do it?
I don’t know—I always had such a cool moonwalk before.
What is the sound you are hearing?
Ice melting in a Klean Kanteen. :)

What is the color you forgot?
I always wear black so I don’t forget any colors.
How well do you trust your intuition?
My intuition is very strong when I am open and expect nothing. I think living in a different language/culture sharpens your intuition because you have to pause/stop the world from time to time.
Where would like to be other than here?
Writing on the terrace of that small house in Casares, Spain, 100 Calle Monte. (But I am happy here eating a tomato from the garden.)

I trust my intuition, but rarely recognize when it is at work.
What’s something that would make your life better?
I'd like to have better rhythm.
Why don’t you want to go to that place?
Restless motion is addictive.
What is the sound you are hearing?
My AC, struggling to keep up.

Mat’s Qs+As
Where do you feel silence?
The truest sense of silence i get is playing music. Pretty much the only time i can turn off the ole noggin and just relax.
What is the color you forget?
Gold, seems every year i forget just how golden this valley gets. The moment i remember that is the moment i start wishing for green.

Rob Davidson + Linda Rogers

5/13/2020

Rob’s Qs+As
What is nearby?
The language of birds. Listen.
Why can’t you do it?
But I did do it. The problem is doing it again, and making it new.
  What is next?
That which came before, which anticipates all that follows, but only after it has actually happened. We are only the stories we tell ourselves.

Linda’s Qs+As
What is the color you forgot?
I forgot purple and I'm sorry and I won't let it happen again.
How well do you trust your intuition?
I trust my instinct like a navigator trusts a compass.
Forward or back?
Since there are only two choices, I'm going with forward. But to be clear, I'm pretty much a here-and-now kind of human. I do love archival stuff, photos, journals, memories. I learn from the past. I am not a fan of regret. No point. I cannot change the past. I am an optimistic realistic idealist. I am not a check-the-days-off-the-calendar person. I've only got today. But you forced me to choose. So, forward. But not fast forward. Just a smidge forward at a time.
