Fortifying The American Dream
January 5–21, 2017
Reception: Saturday January 21, 5-7pm
From the series Breaking the Loop [The Loop], 2015 (cyanotype)
Kyle Campbell is a recent Chico State BFA graduate and sculptor. “Fortifying The American Dream” is an exploration into symbolic objects Kyle associates with his version of the American dream: constructed in a series of cast iron and brass. The show progressed through the process of leaving home with ideas and patterns, executing the designs while away, and assembling this exhibition back at home. The work was created during a three-month internship at the Kohler cast iron plant in Kohler, Wisconsin. Kyle was able to create his work with the aid of factory associates at the Kohler facility and is happy to see the culmination of this project come to 1078 Gallery.
