EAST: The direction from which the sun comes. Light dawns in the morning and spreads over the earth. This is the beginning of a new day. It is also the beginning of understanding because light helps us see things the way they really are. On a deeper level, east stands for the wisdom helping people live good lives.
WITHIN: an inner place or area ZUO: to do to make to produce to write to compose to act as to engage in to hold (a party) to be to become to function (in some capacity) to serve as to be used for to form (a bond or relationship) to pretend to feign to act a part to put on appearance. BAO: a Chinese steamed bread roll with a filling of meat or vegetables. also: a gender-neutral name of Chinese origin synonymous with the finer things in life. Meaning “bundle or package,” “precious treasure,” and “guarantee,” this stand-out moniker brilliantly expresses the affection you feel for your little one. TV (television): a form of mass media based on the electronic delivery of moving images and sound from a source to a receiver. By extending the senses of vision and hearing beyond the limits of physical distance, television has had a considerable influence on society. In a relatively short time the television has changed the nature of how humans interact with one another. In its beginnings there were movies which were shown in theaters, and were only seen by a select number of people. Then there were tv sets with a select number of shows. Now an individual lives their daily lives with millions of shows available with the swipe of a finger. And what is the result? Is it all a distraction from the most important show we’ve been living all along? Is there a way to tune into a transmission that comes from within? What does that look like? Zuo Bao tv invites you to look into these questions more deeply. Artist Bios David Dragonboy Sutherland has been making art in Northern California & the Bay Area for the last 24 years. He is a true multi media artist, his assemblage work incorporates discarded & everyday objects, which are incorporated into “dragonmasks” or mahakala. These works take on a tribal, primitive quality which can evokes a sense of mystery or magic. Sutherland’s work is influenced by Mayan hieroglyphs, eastern philosophy/religions, esotericism, as well as the art of Jasper Johns, Joseph Bueys, Robert Rauschenberg, Eduardo Paolozzi and Robert Motherwell to name a few. David continues to curate events, guided meditation groups, and art shows in Northern California and beyond. MrBlack is a multidisciplinary visual artist versed in painting, printmaking and large-scale murals. Originally from Oklahoma, Micah Black grew up in Northern California, where he was influenced by comic book art, graffiti and 20th-century art movements at an early age. He combines aspects of these influences to create a unique hieroglyphic style using tessellate shapes, symbols and colors to construct a landscape that reads like a haiku of pictographs. His work explores themes centered around the interconnection of living things, self-perception and mythology. Several of his works can be found at home and abroad through mural projects, art shows and his curated events. |
