Artist's Statement
​
Spending the last year and a half in the state of California after a stint in the cold and
dreary landscape of the east coast, I’ve been inspired by the plethora of citrus lining the streets
of Chico. The brilliant oranges, bright yellows, and lush greens of the fruit inspire me. They
guide me to share fruit with friends and loved ones. Local Citrus serves as my honoring of these
moments through scenes of my two characters: Montaña Desierto and Hermano Biblia. They
will experience life, love, loss, and tender moments recalling moments of my own life and use
the language of nostalgia to connect with the viewer.
