The exhibit comprises performance, installation, and sound- and object-based art. Visitors will be immersed within art environments where they may learn, be entertained, and explore with all their senses. The artists will be adopting a performative, process-based approach, where they will become context providers, instead of simply being content providers. Some works offer synesthetic experiences, while other works are introspective and allegorical.
A Place to Say underlines 1078’s role in this community since its inception in 1981. The gallery has been a place for communication in all platforms: music, visual art, performance, public discussion, dance, workshops, celebrations of life and death, rehearsals for the next best thing, and co-sponsored events with many other organizations, including a show for MONCA when it was getting off the ground. And now, in turn, MONCA is providing space for 1078 before it breaks new ground at 1710 Park Avenue in April, 2018.
