Doug Rathbun + Ulises Meza Ferrous May 17 – June 2, 2012
The focus of Ferrous is on the United States post World War II. It examines an imagined, idealized identity of America coming from elements of popular culture, specifically the amusement park and science fiction. The works include fabricated steel, aluminum, and copper.
Doug Rathbun has served on the board of the 1078 Gallery, is a member of the artists' guild at Avenue 9 Gallery in Chico, has permanent installations in homes and businesses, and shows frequently in local venues. Ulises Meza serves on the Orland Arts Commission, had a solo show at the 1078 in 2010 (Manufactured Nostalgia), received his MFA in sculpture from CSU Chico in 2007, and has collaborated several times with Rathbun in the North State.
