January 31–February 23, 2025
Scanning sessions: Fridays and Saturdays through February 15,10am–1pm
Workshop: Wednesday, February 12, 6–8pm
Reception: Saturday February 22, 5–7pm
Chico Scan-a-thon 2025 is a month-long community event inviting the public to bring in their vintage printed photos to be professionally scanned and archived. Scanning/digitizing your photos preserves them for future generations and protects them from deterioration or potential damage in the event of a natural disaster, such as fire or flooding.
Bring your shoebox full of snapshots, and we’ll scan them with a high-speed, high-resolution scanner. You’ll receive the digital files on a thumb drive, and if you’d like, you can share your photos in a public exhibition created from the scanned images contributed by the community. Photos can be brought into the gallery at any of the following times. There is no limit to how many photos you can bring, but scanning sessions are first-come, first-served, with a limit of 15 minutes per session if others are waiting. Chico Scan-a-thon 2025 Fridays & Saturdays January 31–February 15 (three weekends) 10am–1pm Scanning is free! (Donations to 1078 Gallery and the North Valley Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund are greatly appreciated.) A related workshop will take place at the gallery on Wednesday, February 12, 6–8pm. The workshop will cover topics including photo storage and organization, digital editing tools, and photo-based art projects. Supported in part by a grant from the City of Chico. |
