Gallery Floorplan

1078 Gallery is a small venue for music performance of various types. Booking is limited so please contact us well in advance of your tour and we'll do our best to accommodate. We are interested in weird, local, or artful music, but, actually, we can make almost anything work. Our archives indicate some of our past musical events. Please email info@1078gallery.org for more information, and please put "Music" in the subject. Thanks.

Visitation Rites says:

If you've ever taken music lessons, "Dust" by Brooklyn's Up Died Sound will return you to the time when you played your first harmonic minor scale and gasped as a new universe opened up before you— the perfumed and half-imaginary unknown that Westerners once knew as "the Orient." Here, rock comes face to face with its non-Western alter ego, the hybrid of Anglo-American psych and traditional Arabesque music forged by Turkish legends Selda Bağcan and Erkin Koray. Perhaps psychedelia has always been about finding a way out, but this jam offers two modes of egress: one guitar arching upward like the ceiling of Alhambra, and another driving down toward the center of the earth, hoping to emerge on the other side.

Wild Oak Music Group
Best of Chico I

September 25
7:30pm, doors at 7 pm, $5

Founded in fall 1997, Wild Oak Records (WOR) is an independent record label based in the Music Industry program at California State University, Chico. The name Wild Oak comes from its surrounding environment: Chico’s boisterous and edgy music scene paired with the historic oak trees of magnificent Bidwell Park. The WOR parent company, Wild Oak Music Group, also includes Wild Oak: Artist Management, Business Soundtracks, Concert Production, CD Duplication Services, and Songwriter’s Guild.

Since its inception over a decade ago, Wild Oak Record’s mission has been to "support and promote local and regional popular music," while also offering students a real-life leaning environment in which to practice their profession. To this end WOR has released ten CDs, produced more than 100 concerts, partnered with local businesses and organizations to raise money for worthy causes, managed local artists, and assisted a generation of local songwriters to improve their craft and live performance skills.
