What’s coming?
Architecture Program / Projects Tour.One of three elements coming up this fall as a part of the Gallery’s new Architecture Program Architecture as Art, is the Projects Tour which takes place on Saturday, 3 October 2009 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information is available in the Artoberfest guide, which can be downloaded here [5.9mb pdf] or viewed online here. At the time of the event a separate Tour Guide will be available at the Gallery.
The Architecture as Art event is a collaboration of ten local architectural firms. The group has chosen eighteen projects in the Chico area to be part of the Projects Tour which it feels represent a broad scope of local building types and styles.
The projects are by the architects whose works will be shown in the Architecture as Art Exhibit at the Gallery in the first week in October. Some are recent works and some are earlier works of exhibitors’ firms.
The tour is set up to be self-guided. The Tour Guide will include small photos of the projects with their addresses and a map numbering the locations. The photo image, if included, will help you identify the project. Some project-owners have agreed to let groups and individuals on the tour view the interiors. The projects whose owners have agreed to inside tours have the hours they are open posted following the project addresses.
Some tour sites are private residences and businesses. In as much as this is a self guided tour, we are counting on those touring to be conscious of the occupants. Of course, checking out the projects from the street can really take place at any time, on your own time. Good architecture is part of the civic fabric that enriches our environment and will always be admired and sought out. Thanks for participating. .
